Removing Stretch Marks By Surgery: All You Need To Know About It

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
by Rashel Dan

Stretch marks (or striae to dermatologists) are some of the most annoying features of the skin that can easily develop when someone’s body grows quickly, such as the case with gaining weight. The stretch marks are formed when the dermis cannot catch up or deal with the stretching, meaning its elasticity is not flexible enough to cope with the stretching. The dermis tears and wherever the skin has reddened is the area most likely that stretch marks will occur. If not prevented earlier, one has to the option of removing stretch marks by surgery.

Going Under The Laser

One of the easiest way of removing marks that do not involve you taking any prescription medicines is to go through laser surgery. This is similar to the laser surgery that is used to remove tattoos. It works by “cleaning and repairing” the dermis which is a layer just underneath your skin and where all the stretch marks form.

No Pain - Laser treatment has become a very popular and painless way to get rid of stretch marks especially for women who have just had kids. Of course, this is a procedure that is not advisable for women who are still pregnant.

Why Use Laser Treatment?

Laser surgery is actually something quite new and a lot of people might be skeptical of the procedure because it involves the use of an actual laser. But this surgery process is very safe and it is also quick.

The Treatment - A full procedure will only involve a few sittings on the patient’s part. Also, this is a very cost-effective way to get rid of stretch marks. The best thing about it is that removing stretch marks by surgery involving a laser means getting rid of them forever. You will not have to worry about any side effects as there are none.

It’s Really Inexpensive?

The Cost - The laser surgery procedure is certainly not cheap but it is a lot cheaper than it used to be a few years back. Also, you can count on the fact that there have been major improvements to the procedure since then. The price you pay will depend on the extent of surgery that you want or need. So the more stretch marks you have, the more chances that you will have more than just a couple of sittings to go through the process completely.

Is It Safe?

Laser surgery done by the right person is 100% safe. You cannot do this procedure on yourself unless you too are a professional. But the specialists who can operate the machines and have medical degrees can assure you absolute success and zero side effects. There are many unregistered clinics who also offer this treatment and sometimes for a lower price but you cannot trust those places if they do no have the license to operate.

Causes Of Female Hair Loss

There are a number of different reasons as to why a woman would suffer from hair loss in the same way as a man does. Yet even though some women will begin to lose their hair, they do not lose it to the same extent that a man does. Below we look at one reason which is the cause of female hair loss in women today and which is the most common of all the causes.

Although it has always been considered to be predominantly a male problem, today you will find that some women are just as likely to suffer from serious hair loss as well. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, it is a problem that now affects around 30 million women in the United States alone.

For some women the reason that they start to lose hair is because of their genetic makeup. This kind of hair loss comes down to the way that the hormones known as androgens in their body interfere with the natural processes. The hormones, which make up this particular group, are androstenedione, testosterone and Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. All of which both men and women produce, but a woman’s amounts are much smaller than those produced by a man’s are.

For some unknown reason because of a woman’s genetic makeup, there are times when the testosterone hormone in her body comes into contact with an enzyme that makes it convert easily into DHT. When it does this the DHT is able to bind to the receptors deep inside the hair follicles which prevents messages from being able to gain entry and so prevent them from growing as normal.

Over time, there will be a build up of DHT in the hair follicles, this then will begin to cause them to shrink. This in turn results in the disruption of the natural hair growth patterns and often results in hair loss occurring. This will then result in suffering from female pattern baldness or referred to medically as androgenic alopecia.

Yet although the cause of female pattern baldness happens in the same way as male pattern baldness, the actual pattern that the hair loss takes is different. For women the hair loss is more diffused and will occur across the top of the scalp. Where as for men they can suffer from it in a variety of different places either the crown, temple, or at the back of the scalp.

In addition, the other difference with this particular kind of hair loss in women compared to men is that in men not only is it related to their genetic makeup but also to their age. With women, however this particular form of hair loss can be suffered at any stage of their lives and may well be caused by some other underlying medical condition.

As well as the above, there are other reasons as to why a woman may suffer from hair loss. Certainly, when it comes to deciding what the cause of female hair loss is in a particular woman it may come down to a number of different factors. With Some women, the cause can be from a traumatic event in their lives, whilst for others it could be down to some kind of medical condition or treatment.

The major reasons for acnes are due to hormonal changes. Obviously there pattern of acne are non - specific and are incomparable with acnes occurring during teenage. Acne that appears during adulthood does not require any treatment as they diminish easily without any difficulty. Pimples, pustules. bumps and zits are common breakouts which appear on the skin. Pimples are elevations along with inflammations whereas pustules are elevated inflammations filled with pus. Both pimples and pustules might be either mild of deep. Post - adolescent acne appears in an entirely different manner. Blackheads and whiteheads cannot be seen prominently. Pimples on face prove to be a challenge especially for teenage girls.
