Yeast Infections - Home Remedies To Provide Relief

Yeast infections are more common than one could imagine and are not limited to the genital areas of one’s body. For some people their yeast infections can develop in the mouth, under the nails and in between folds of the skin. Also these types of infections can happen at any stage in a person’s life and is not something that women only have to deal with. In this article we look at a number natural easy to use cure for yeast infections.

1. Plain Yogurt - There is a good bacteria in this food which contains properties that can help fight the yeast infection. One can either eat it to fight the infection from inside and so help to prevent further yeast from growing inside. Plus it can also be applied directly to the area where the infection has occurred.

If you are going to use this form of treatment to cure a yeast infection you need to make sure that it is the plain natural type and not any other. The other kinds of yogurt available contain sugar which will make the infection worse as this ingredient in the yogurt helps to increase the production of the yeast bacterium.

Should you be applying the cure directly on to the area infected don’t allow it to remain on for too long as again it can cause the condition to worsen. As soon as the itching symptoms are relieved then remove any excess yogurt. If left on moisture will be able to collect and the itching will become a problem again.

2. Garlic - As a home remedy this is one of the most effective of them all for curing yeast infections. If the infection is a vaginal one then inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina can offer relief every few hours. However, if you intend to use a garlic suppository then make sure that the ones you use only contain pure natural ingredients in them. It is the anti-fungal properties within the garlic that help to kill off the yeast.

But if you are not happy about inserting garlic then the other way is to take a garlic supplement or eat it in its raw state instead. However, if you are at all worried about what your breath will be like following eating the garlic then you should use pure natural garlic supplements instead.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar - As with the garlic this can be used both internally and externally as a cure for yeast infections. However, one should never apply this cure in its pure form directly to the infected area, but add a cup of it to a hot bath and then soak in it for a while.

4. Oil of Oregano - Another effective cure for yeast infections which should be taken daily as directed by the manufacturer of the treatment. If you intend to use oil of oregano make sure that it has a high amount of carvacrol in it as it is this which works at killing of the yeast which has caused the infection.

hair stylings tip for fine hair

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
by Stephen Lambbert

If you have fine or thinning hair you might feel it is difficult to find a hair style that suits you. A trip to a barber or hairdresser can be a source of distress.

It is important that you can discuss your fine or thinning hair and the style you want with the person cutting it and not feel any embarrassment or distress.

For men, the most sensible and easiest style is a short, clean cut. One of the worst mistakes a guy can make with thinning or fine hair is to grow it long, spike it or jell it. These accentuate the thinning hair and draw attention to it.

And in no circumstances attempt the dreaded ‘comb over’ by growing your hair at the sides and the back long and combing over the fine or receding areas.

This will almost definitely bring unwanted attention and highlight what you are trying to conceal.

Dyeing the hair lighter will nearly always help by reducing level of contrast between the hair and scalp. Of course, if you have a darker scalp then a darker colour would be better.

There are also a vast range of thickening shampoos and conditioners that add volume to the hair and are less likely to break and damage the already weakened follicle.

It is also advisable not to let fine or thinning hair get too greasy.

For women, chin length cuts are recommended by most stylists. Again, attention and emphasis will be on the features, face and neck, rather than the hair.

As is similar for men, hair that is too long will make the hair appear weaker and thinner than it actually is.. Curling irons and straighteners should be avoided as they can seriously damage hair.

A shortish ‘bobb’ type cut with the hair brushed behind the ears is of the trendiest current looks and can do wonders to add volume to hair, especially if the hair is layered correctly at the back.

Extensions are an absolute no-no and will add stress to an already weakened hair follicle. As distressing as fine and thinning hair can be there are different styles that can benefit you.
